DZYNE Awarded Contract to Developing State-of-the-Art Collaborative Mobile Computing

FAIRFAX, VA, September 9, 2015 – DZYNE Technologies was awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research contract to develop new capabilities for mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets to work together as a collective whole while processing data gathered by their users during emergency response and military operations. This effort, entitled “Djin: A Mobile Cloud Analytic Environment,” significantly enhances mobile cloud technology. Djin is a key enabling technology for clients who are engaged in time-sensitive business that cannot tolerate the time delays inherent in data-to-decision cycles requiring transmission of high-volume data to a remote processing center. Djin allows a team of forward-deployed users to transform real-time streaming data into decisive action by enabling mobile devices to assign and share processing tasks and data distribution responsibilities in dynamic and challenging environments.“Djin, which is another name for a dust devil, enables mobile devices to metaphorically swirl bits of data and processing amongst themselves to compute analytics and generate results at the point of data collection,” said Dr. Stephen Pledgie, DZYNE’s principal investigator for the effort.

“Compute-intensive algorithms that require processing resources far exceeding those available on a single device, can now be applied to time-sensitive data directly behind the sensor, in the field, where timely actions matter most.”
